Note: Cacao is known to be very safe for most people. But cacao is not recommended for people who take antidepressants; have a heart condition; are epileptic; or are pregnant or breast feeding. If you are taking 5-Hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP), it is recommended that you consume a smaller dose of cacao. If you take St. John’s Wort, you are advised to refrain from taking it for a few days before and after taking cacao. Since cacao lowers blood pressure, you may want to take a smaller dose if you already have low blood pressure.
